ABILENE, Texas – LeTourneau University's men's tennis team fell to McMurry University, 5-4, Friday in a tough battle.

Julian Lee and Patrick Baney lost to Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles. Nathan Schmidt and Rodrigo Vazquez Chairez beat Reid Smith and Joseph Diaz, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. Miles Grubbs and Jonah McGinty defeated Dylan Bryant and Connor Hogan, 8-4, at the No. 3 doubles slot to conclude doubles play, giving LeTourneau a 2-1 lead overall.

Lee fell to Martinez, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. At No. 2, Schmidt was defeated by Daniell, 7-5, 6-4. Vazquez Chairez won the first set, 6-4, and fell in the second set, 6-3, before winning the third set, 6-4, to pick up a big win over Smith in the third position. At No. 4 singles, Baney beat Hogan, 6-2, 6-3. Gavin Meyer lost to Diaz, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 5. McGinty fell to Chris Causer, 6-4, 7-5, at the No. 6 flight.

LETU dropped to 1-1 on the season.
 
LeTourneau will be back in action at Mary Hardin-Baylor 12:30 p.m. Saturday to close out the three-match road trip.
