LETU swept the Kangaroos in doubles play. This is the second match in a row that the YellowJackets have gone 3-0 in doubles action.
Miles Grubbs and Jonah McGinty were the first to get in the winning column defeating, Williams Dixon and Storm Simonin, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles. Julian Lee and Patrick Baney beat Brett O'Brien and Preston Spivey, 8-3, at the No. 1 doubles flight. Rodrigo Vazquez Chairez and Nathan Schmidt closed the sweep in doubles, defeating Tate Nelson and Joseph Carrillo, 8-2, at the No. 3 position.
The YellowJackets took a strong 3-0 lead moving into singles play.
Lee beat O'Brien, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 slot, Vasquez Chairez defeated Spivey in the first set, 7-6 (7-0), before falling in the next two set, 6-2, 12-10. Baney beat Carrillo, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3. At the No. 4 position, Schmidt defeated Nelson, 6-2, 6-1. Gavin Meyer tallied a victory at the No. 5 spot, defeating Matthew Cochran, 6-4, 6-1. Grubbs closed singles play at the No. 6 position, defeating Simonin, 6-3, 6-2.
LeTourneau improves to 7-2 on the season.
The Jackets will travel to Belhaven Saturday at 10 a.m. in an American Southwest Conference matchup.
