LONGVIEW – LeTourneau University women's tennis team fell to Austin College, 8-1, Saturday to conclude their two-match weekend. 

The YellowJackets went 1-1 on the weekend.

LETU's Bailey Deatherage and Summer Apostalo fell to Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles. At the No. 2 doubles flight, Brandy Weems and Amber Van Duyn captured the only YellowJacket win in the match, defeating Maya Leisey and Megan Morris, 8-2. Julia Miller and Mimi Samdi lost to Madelin Hiler and Sierra Thomas, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. 

LeTourneau trailed 2-1 moving into singles play.

Deatherage fought hard at No. 1 singles, beating Francis in the first set, 7-5, before falling in the next two sets, 6-3, 10-3. At No. 2 singles, Apostalo lost to Shapard, 6-0, 6-0. Weems fell to Hiler, 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 3 position. Miller lost to Leisey, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4. At the No. 5 slot, Samdi was defeated by Morris, 6-4, 6-4. Van Duyn fell to Thomas, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 6. 

The YellowJackets will be at Belhaven Saturday at 10 a.m. for an American Southwest Conference matchup.
