Box Score LONGVIEW – LeTourneau University women's tennis team fell to Hardin-Simmons University, 8-1, Saturday in the last of two matches.
Sophomore Bailey Deatherage picked up the lone point, claiming the victory in the top singles slot for the YellowJackets.
Deatherage and Summer Apostalo fell to Kaitlin Hathorn and Lauren Schaeffer, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles. Sierra Giesen Linssen and Julia Miller lost to Landry Laywell and Priscilla Schimming, 8-2, at the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 flight, Brandy Weems and Mimi Samdi were defeated by Mckenna Bryan and Brianne Dumas, 8-0.
Deatherage beat Hathorn, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Apostalo fell to Laywell, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 2 position. At No. 3, Giesen Linssen lost to Schaeffer, 6-3, 6-0. Miller was defeated by Schimming, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot. In the fifth position, Samdi fell to Taja Lawrence, 6-1, 6-0. Weems lost to Bryan, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6.
The YellowJackets (1-4) will play at the University of St. Thomas-Texas Friday in a match rained out earlier this year.
