SENIOR DAY
LONGVIEW – Looking to build momentum ahead of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, the LeTourneau University men's tennis team would fall to visiting University of Texas-Dallas, 9-0, at Davis Tennis Courts Saturday.
For the final regular season match and Senior Day, LETU men's tennis team honored its only senior,
Rodrigo Vazquez.
Vazquez and
Patrick Baney battled at the top flight, falling to Ashwin Vaithianathan and John Edwards, 8-3. At No. 2 doubles,
Alex Barrero and
Gavin Meyer lost to Haydn Steffes and Jed De Luna, 8-3. To finish doubles play,
Miles Grubbs and
Jonah McGinty lost a hard fought battle to Ritvik Ganesan and Mauro Tejada, 8-7 (7-3), at No. 3.
LETU trailed 3-0 moving into singles play.
At No. 1 singles, Vazquez lost to Vaithianathan, 6-2, 6-1. Baney fell to Edwards, 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 2 slot. In the No. 3 position, Meyer was beaten by Steffes, 6-1, 7-5. Barrero lost to Ganesan, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4. At the No. 5 spot, McGinty fell to De Luna, 6-3, 6-1. Grubbs lost to Tejada, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, at No. 6.
LeTourneau finishes the season with an 11-4 overall record and 4-1 in ASC play.
The YellowJackets will be back in action as they face off against McMurry University in the ASC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals Thursday April 29 at the University of Texas-Dallas.
