SENIOR DAY
LONGVIEW -- Entering their final regular season match before the American Southwest Conference Championship tournament, the LeTourneau University women's tennis team was unable to top the visiting No. 3 regionally ranked University of Texas at Dallas, as they fell by a 9-0 decision at Davis Tennis Courts on Saturday.
Before the match began, the LeTourneau tennis program was proud to honor lone senior,
Mimi Samdi for Senior Day.
At No. 1 doubles,
Bailey Deatherage and
Summer Apostalo fell to the powerful doubles team of Kathy Joseph and Samantha Wong, 8-0.
Sierra Linssen and
Julia Miller lost to Saumya Vedula and Rebecca Jackson, 8-0. In the No. 3 slot,
Brandy Weems and
Amber Van Duyn were defeated by Svaksha Iyengar and Suzuka Nishino, 8-0.
LETU trailed 3-0 moving into singles action.
Linssen finished first in singles play at the No. 2 spot, falling to Wong, 6-0, 6-0. Following Linssen, Deatherage fell to Joseph, 6-1, 6-0, at the top flight. At No.3, Apostalo lost to Vedula, 6-0, 6-2. Weems lost to Nishino, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 4 position. At the No. 5 slot, Miller was beaten by Jackson, 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 6,
Mimi Samdi fell to Stephanie Joseph, 6-0, 6-1.
LeTourneau finishes the season 5-10 overall and 3-2 in the ASC.
The YellowJackets will look to bounce back as they prepare to face off against McMurry University in the ASC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals Thursday May 6 at Hardin Simmons University.
