JACKSONVILLE, Texas – LeTourneau University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 9 Jacksonville College in on Monday.
LeTourneau stands at 8-2. Jacksonville, which competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association, is 6-2.
The YellowJackets fought hard through doubles play.
Julian Lee and
Patrick Baney lost to Santiago Castellanos and Muntingh Hamman, 8-6, No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 slot,
Rodrigo Vazquez and
Nathan Schmidt fell to Juan Jose Agudelo and Miguel Gamborino, 8-5.
Miles Grubbs and
Jonah McGinty lost to David Perez De La Fuente and Ryan Christensen, 9-7, at the No. 3 position.
LETU trailed 3-0 moving into singles play.
At No.1 singles, Lee fell to Castellanos, 6-4, 6-4. Vazquez won the opening set against Gamborino, 6-4, before falling 6-3, 10-5, at No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 position, Baney lost to Perez De La Fuente, 6-3, 6-2. Schmidt battled against Hamman in the No. 4 spot, winning the first set 6-4, before losing 6-0, 10-5. At No. 5 singles, Meyer lost to Christensen, 6-1, 6-2. Grubbs fell to Agudelo, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 6 slot.
The Jackets will look to bounce back as they travel to Louisiana College Friday.
