Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau men's tennis downed McMurry Saturday at Davis Tennis Courts, 8-1, to open its 2022 spring season.

The YellowJackets swept the War Hawks in doubles play, taking a 3-0 lead early on.

The dynamic duo of Julian Lee and Patrick Baney defeated Chase Daniell and Reid Smith, 8-2, at the top doubles flight. At No. 2, Nathan Schmidt and Ryan Holloway rolled past Dylan Bryant and Connor Hogan, 8-1. Miles Grubbs and Alex Barrero beat Ty Edwards and Jason Cabe, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.

The Jackets continued its dominance moving into singles play, winning five of six singles matches.

Holloway defeated Smith at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3. Baney and Schmidt steamrolled Hogan and Bryant at the No. 3 and 4 positions, both winning, 6-0, 6-0. Andres Urretia downed Cabe in his first collegiate action, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. Barrero beat Edwards at the No. 6 flight, 6-4, 6-2.

The War Hawks gain its lone point at the No. 1 position when Daniell defeated by Lee after an Injury defaulted the win to Daniell.

The YellowJackets next time taking the court is Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. as it travels to Austin College.
