Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau women's tennis fell to McMurry Saturday evening, 6-3, in its season opener at Davis Tennis Courts.
The freshmen duo of
Madison Morris and Megan Leblanc got the ball rolling for the YellowJackets, claiming their first collegiate victory at No. 1 doubles, 8-2. LETU dropped the final two doubles matches moving into singles play trailing, 2-1.
Bailey Deatherage beat Hope Turner at the top singles flight. Morris followed up Deatherage's win with one of her own at No. 2, defeating Hannah DeFriend, 6-1, 6-0.
The War Hawks rattled off the final four singles matches to take the match win. Bridgette Fly beat Leblanc at Flight 3, 6-3, 6-4.
Brandy Weems fell to Andie Smith, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 5, Kaylin Parker outlasted
Emma Boulanger, 0-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Clara Brisman fell at No. 6 singles to Emily Nuttol, 6-4, 6-0.
LETU will be back in action Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. as it travels to Austin College to begin its six match road trip.
