Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU men's tennis fell in its final match of the day Saturday to Texas A&M Texarkana, 8-1.
The YellowJackets went 1-1 on the day.
The Eagles notched the first point of the match at No. 2 doubles when Rod Vazquez and
Jonah McGinty lost to Fernando Martinez and Felipe De la Carrera, 8-4.
Ryan Holloway and
Nathan Schmidt lost a tough battle to Kevin Tsati-Onla and Iker Alonso at the No. 3 position, 8-7 (7-4). The duo of
Julian Lee and
Miles Grubbs at the top flight doubles shrunk the cushion of the Eagles when they took down Alejandro Oviedo and Mauricio Trevino Velasco, 8-6.
TAMUT carried a 2-1 lead moving into singles action.
Texas A&M Texarkana would go on to sweep singles play, collecting all six points.
Vazquez fell to Oviedo, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1. Holloway fought hard against Tsati-Onla at line two, losing in the tiebreaker set, 10-7. In the third position, Schmidt lost to Velasco, 6-1, 6-1. Martinez beat
Alex Barrero, 6-4, 6-2, in the fourth slot.
Jeffrey Golladay clashed with De la Carrera at No. 5, falling in the tiebreaker set, 10-4. Alonso defeated McGinty in the sixth spot, 8-3.
LETU hits the road as it travels to Hilton Head, South Carolina to take part in the PTR Spring Fest Mar. 14-16.
