Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU men's tennis took down Mary Hardin-Baylor, 7-2, to start its Saturday doubleheader off 1-0.
The YellowJackets host Texas A&M Texarkana Saturday at approximately 6 p.m. for the final match of its doubleheader.
LeTourneau dominated in doubles action, claiming all three points to hold a 3-0 lead.
Rodrigo Vazquez and
Miles Grubbs cruised past Alejandro Omana and Diego Martinez at the No. 2 spot, 8-1, to claim the first point of the match.
Nathan Schmidt and
Ryan Holloway followed with a victory of their own, defeating Ethan Kittredge and Andre Maltzahn, 8-3. At the top flight,
Julian Lee and
Patrick Baney beat Cody Aaron and Nicolas Cusano, 8-2.
At the No. 1 position, Lee won by retirement over Cusano. Lee won the first set, 6-2, and led 2-1 in the second set when Cusano retired. Vazquez outlasted Omana in the second spot, winning 6-4, 7-5. Holloway stays undefeated on the season in singles play, sailing past Aaron, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3. Baney fell in a close one to Brylee White at the fourth line, losing 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. At No. 5, Schmidt beat Kittredge, 6-1, 6-2.
Andres Urretia lost a tight battle to Martinez in the sixth slot, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5.
LETU improves to 4-2 overall, while the Crusaders drop to 1-6.
