Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU women's tennis lost a close battle to Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday, 5-4, in the first match of its doubleheader.
Madison Morris and
Megan LeBlanc got the YellowJackets off to the right start, claiming a point at No. 1 doubles after defeating Victoria Rendon and Chloe Norris, 8-2. LeTourneau fell in the final two doubles matches.
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems lost to Jalen Burns and Adrianna McElwain in the second slot, 8-5.
Emma Boulanger and
Clara Brisman dropped a point at No. 3 to Katy Beach and Amanda Almanza, 8-4.
The Jackets trailed 2-1 going into singles.
LETU stung the Crusaders at the top three flights of singles play. Deatherage downed Burns at No. 1, 6-0, 6-4. In the second position, Morris cruised past Norris, 6-2, 6-0. LeBlanc notched a solid win at the third spot, beating Beach, 6-2, 6-1. UMHB collected the last three singles matches to edge the YellowJackets. At No. 4, Weems fell to McElwain, 6-1, 6-3. Boulanger lost to Rendon, 6-3, 6-1, at the fifth line. Almanza defeated Brisman, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5.
The YellowJackets look to bounce back as it caps off its doubleheader with a matchup against Texas A&M Texarkana Saturday at 6 p.m.
