Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU women's tennis dropped its final match of its doubleheader Saturday to Texas A&M Texarkana, 7-2.
A forfeit win at the No. 3 doubles slot gave the YellowJackets the upper hand early in the contest but claimed the two final doubles points to take the lead.
Madison Morris and
Megan LeBlanc fell at the top flight to Marie Peters and Lydia Oviedo, 8-3.
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems dropped a point at No. 2, losing to Natalie Scott and Kheidyvel Ibarra, 8-2.
After another forfeit win for LETU at the No. 6 singles, the match was knotted up at two. The Eagles rattled off five straight single victories to secure the match.
Deatherage lost to Peters in the No. 1 slot, 6-3, 6-4. At No. 2, Morris fell to Oviedo, 6-4, 6-2. Scott downed LeBlanc at line three, 8-1. In the fourth position, Weems dropped a point to Ibarra, 8-3.
Emma Boulanger fought hard against Kassie Newton at No. 5 singles, falling in the first set, 6-4, but bouncing back in the second to win, 6-2, ultimately losing in the tiebreaker set, 10-8.
The Jackets will head to Hilton Head, South Carolina Mar. 14-16 to compete in the PTR Spring Fest.
