Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The LETU men's tennis team downed Nichols Tuesday, 7-2, in day two of the PTR Spring Fest.
LeTourneau swept doubles play to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Julian Lee and
Patrick Baney defeated Adrian Toderascu and Moritz Kern at No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Jonah McGinty and Rod Vazquez took down Giacomo Ghitti and Santiago Perez in the second slot, 8-4.
Nathan Schmidt and
Ryan Holloway sealed the deal in doubles at No. 3 with a victory against Steven Kuang and Enrico Menegon, 8-4.
The duo of Schmidt and Holloway boast an 8-1 doubles record, while Lee and Baney are 6-1.
At No. 1 singles, Lee beat Ghitti, 6-3, 6-2. Vazquez fell to Trevor Schwarzmann in the second position, 6-1, 6-0. Holloway outlasted Toderascu at No. 3, winning in the tiebreaker set, 14-12. At line four, Baney defeated Kern, 6-4, 6-2. Schmidt took the first set against Perez at No. 5, 6-3, but lost in the final two sets, 7-5, 10-4. Grubbs battled at the sixth slot versus Enzo Matos, taking the tiebreaker set, 11-9.
The Jackets advance to 5-4 on the year, while the Bisons fall to 4-4.
LeTourneau caps off its final day of the PTR Fest Wednesday with a doubleheader at 7 a.m. against Newberry and 3 p.m. against Ithaca.
