Box Score ABILENE, Texas – LETU women's tennis fell on the road at Hardin-Simmons Tuesday, 7-2.
Hardin-Simmons tallied the first point of the match at No. 3 when Skylar Rust and Brianne Dumas defeated
Emma Boulanger and
Clara Brisman. The duo of
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems tied the match at one all after they took down Jonnah Smith and Taja Lawrence at line two, 8-3.
Madison Morris and
Megan LeBlanc fell to Laurel Coleman and Lauren Schaeffer at the top flight, 8-3, to grant HSU the upperhand.
The Cowgirls took a 2-1 advantage over LETU heading into singles play.
Morris tallied the only Jacket point in singles action at the No. 2 slot, downing Landry Laywell in a tiebreaker set 6-1. Hardin-Simmons collect points at the other five positions to secure the match win. Deatherage fought hard against Coleman at No. 1, falling, 6-4, 7-5. Schaeffer defeated LeBlanc at line three, 6-0, 6-1. In the fourth spot, Weems dropped a point to Priscilla Schimming, 6-2, 6-0. Boulanger lost at No. 5 to Smith, 6-2, 6-2.
Sophie Hill fell to Rust in the sixth position, 6-1, 6-1.
LETU returns home as it opens American Southwest Conference East divisional play Saturday at 10 a.m. against Belhaven.
