SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team officially opened the 2022-23 season over the weekend at the ITA Southwest Regional tournament, hosted by Trinity.

The YellowJacket women picked up five total wins between singles and doubles play at the annual event. Three different LeTourneau players notched at least one win in the singles portion of the tournament.

Elizabeth Moreau notched her first collegiate wins as she went 2-1 in singles play. Moreau advanced to the semifinal round of her draw with wins over Mary Hardin-Baylor's Trinity McEowen 7-6(3), 6-1, and Schreiner's Anna McCormick in a third-set tiebreak 6-2, 5-7, 10-5. 

After dropping her first match in the main singles draw to Trinity's Ruth Hill -- who later advanced to the semifinals -- newcomer Andrea Farris collected a hard-fought win over Hardin-Simmons' Skylar Rust 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. Freshman Amanda Hasbell had the other singles win for LeTourneau with her 6-2, 6-3 win over Schreiner's Sandra Novelo in the opening round of her draw.

In doubles play, Moreau and Emma Boulanger combined for an 8-7(6) win over Bailey Standokes and Abigail Le of Austin College in the first round of the draw. The tandem narrowly fell in the round of 16 to McMurry's McKenzie Carroll and Madi Gonzalez by an 8-6 final. Farris and Brandy Weems also played well in the duo's opening match in the main draw before falling in a tiebreak to Trinity's Brooke Belitz and Ella Cummings 8-7(0).
