Chase Rogers competed as a duo and in singles at the 122nd Annual Ojai Tennis Tournament over the weekend in California.
The prestigious tournament draws some of the best competition from the region.
The tandem produced impressive results in their first appearances at the tournament. As a doubles team, Farris and Rogers reached the finals of the consolation bracket and each picked up two singles wins.
Farris advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw. He defeated Cal Lutheran's Hangyu Ai 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round before taking down Ben Burrows of Occidental in the round of 16 by retirement 6-3, 1-0. Farris fell to Yash Nagdev from Whittier in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-3.
Rogers, seeded fourth in singles, received a bye into the round of 16. The freshman fell to Cal Lutheran's Loup Sudre in a three-set match 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Rogers responded, though, with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. He defeated Occidental's Mason Hart in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 10-3 before defeating Cal Lutheran's Jakob Buhler 6-2 7-6(6).
As a doubles team, Farris and Rogers reached the final round of the consolation bracket with an 8-3 win over Ai and James Truong of Cal Lutheran. In the finals, the pair narrowly fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor's Santiago Suarez and Brylee White 8-6.
