Women's Tennis Notches Big Wins at ITA Regional

SAN ANTONIO -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team concluded its fall season schedule over the weekend with an impressive showing at the ITA Southwest Regional in San Antonio.

The tournament saw the YellowJackets collect 12 wins and a pair of deep runs in main bracket draws.

LeTourneau had five players in the championship singles bracket, with three players advancing to the second round, and one player getting to the round of 16.

Grace Rogers advanced to the round of 16 in the main bracket. The sophomore defeated Texas Lutheran's Kassidee Webb by a 6-0, 6-0 final before knocking off Austin College's Natalie Valle by the same score in round two. In the round of 16 against Trinity's Katie Schmidt, Rogers rallied from a first-set loss to send the match to a decisive frame before falling 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(3).

Elizabeth Moreau and Isa Casso also won first round matches in the main draw. Moreau defeated Dallas' Emily Adams 6-3, 6-2 and Casso was a 5-7, 6-2, 10-3 winner over Concordia Texas' Rebekah McQueen. Casso dropped a three-set match in the second round.

In Flight C, Yaddi Ramirez and Emma Boulanger each went 1-1. Ramirez defeated Schreiner's Ally Leonard 6-3, 6-0 and Boulanger was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Hardin-Simmons' Annabelle Heseman.

Maddie Nichol advanced to the semifinal round of Flight D as she took a 6-4, 6-4 win over Schreiner's Devin French and a 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 win against McMurry's Emilee Dominguez.

In doubles, LeTourneau had success in the main bracket. Casso and Rogers combined for a pair of wins to reach the quarterfinals. The tandem defeated Trinity's Allison Vo and Schmidt 8-4 in the first round before taking an 8-7(2) win over a strong Hardin-Simmons squad in Sydney Tomlin and Laurel Coleman. 

In Flight B on the doubles side, Chloe Tesser and Nichol advanced to the round of 16, while Emmy Phillips and Ramirez also advanced after an 8-3 win over Howard Payne's Caroline  Marshall and Kendra Werlein. 

UP NEXT

LeTourneau will begin its spring season in February.
