Women's Outdoor Opener Flush With More Records

CLINTON, Miss. -- LeTourneau women's track and field set multiple personal records and one program record at the Spring Cleaning Classic at Mississippi College on Saturday.

Eliza Dye broke the program record in the pole vault, vaulting 3.40m (11'1.75), breaking Kaylee Packer's 2019 record of 3.20m (10'6).

Nat Ferdi also set personal records across all the throwing competitions, hitting high marks in the discus throw (26.06m - 85'6), hammer throw (24.01m - 78'9), and javelin throw (30.41m - 99'9)

Madelyn DeLosSantos (5:20:33) and Alayna Galloway (5:26:93) also added personal best marks in the 1500 meters.

Head coach Dillon May said this about the ladies' performance: "This group of women know how to compete. Week after week, they keep raising the bar with more PRs, school records, and top-10 program performances; and they do so ready to cheer on and support whoever is next to them. I saw several of our women being excited for their competitor's achievements, encouraging their teammates, being polite and courteous towards the officials, and just being great representations of Christ to everyone they met. They're a group I'm really proud to get to coach day in and day out. I can't wait to see how they do at our next meet after a couple of quality weeks of training."

Heather Shaw (13.84), Kooper Bogenschutz (14.16), and Maddy Hirneise (14.32) all came in the top 25 of the 100m, while Victoria Wilson (18.32) and Shaw (28.53) landed in the top 25 in the 200m.

Felice Mullinax (2:27:69) and DeLosSantos (2:29:70) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 800m. Mullinax also came in the top five in the 1500m, running at 5:04:79 to place third. DeLosSantos and Galloway rounded out the YellowJacket runners in the 1500m with their personal bests.

Peyton Chaney came in the top 20 as the lone LeTourneau representative in the 5000m with a mark of 21:39:88.

Wilson also landed in the top five in both the 100m hurdles (16.83 - third) and the high jump (1.50m - 4'11 - fourth).
