Mason Leads Three All-SCAC Track Honorees

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Three LeTourneau track and field athletes collected All-SCAC honors at the conference championship meet over the weekend in Seguin.

Calvin Mason earned three honors in throwing events, while Colton Fears collected honors in the pole vault. Nat Ferdi earned All-SCAC recognition in the javelin.

The three athletes become the first from LeTourneau to earn All-SCAC honors as the University becomes a full-time member of the league in Fall 2025.

Mason, a sophomore from New London, Texas, became a three-time All-SCAC honoree with strong performances all three days of the meet. Mason won the shot put event with a program-record distance of 15.95 meters and became the first YellowJacket in program history to win a conference title in shot put. The mark put him No. 1 in the West region and currently ranks him 27th in the nation.

Mason also placed second in the hammer (48.71 meters) and third in the discus (43.84 meters). Mason has set program records in all three throwing categories for LeTourneau.

Fears, a junior from White Oak, Texas, earned his second career All-Conference honor after placing third in the pole vault. Fears' mark of 4.54 meters at the SCAC meet was just shy of his personal record and put him 13th in the West region.

Ferdi, a sophomore from Newport Beach, Calif., collected her first All-Conference award. The sophomore produced a personal record distance of 34.56 meters to place second. That throw moved Ferdi into 20th in the West region for the season.

The YellowJackets also produced three total program records during the meet. In addition to Mason's record throw in the shot put, Jean-Michel Ndiaye broke his own record in the high jump at 1.92 meters. Victoria Wilson qualified for the 100-meter hurdles final and broke her program mark with a time of 15.60.

In its first SCAC meet, LeTourneau finished fifth (out of 11) on the men's side with 56 points, while the women were seventh with 25 points.
