LONGVIEW, Texas --
Andrew Ashmore has been named the full-time assistant coach for the LeTourneau track and field programs.
Ashmore's arrival completes the coaching staff for new head coach
Whitney Grubb. He joins
Kevin Gideon along with graduate assistant
Collin Rippy.
He arrives at LeTourneau after spending one season as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA Division II member Washburn.
"It is an honor and a privilege to coach at LeTourneau," said Ashmore. "I feel that God called me to LeTourneau, to serve in a place where faith and athletics walk hand-in-hand, and where we get to develop young men and women not just as athletes, but people growing in Christ. I'm most excited for the opportunities I'll have to make a positive impact on the lives of my athletes."
"I'm excited about bringing Andrew into the program because of his hunger for the sport, his heart for Jesus and his desire to create relationships with our athletes," said Grubb. "After going through the search process, it was evident God kept putting Andrew in front of us, and I'm pumped to see how his story goes here at LeTourneau. He comes from an incredible collegiate program headed by the founder of LeTourneau track, so I know his heart and drive are exactly what we need. LeTourneau track and field scored big here, and I can't wait to see how God moves through the coaching staff."
Ashmore spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant with the Washburn program where he oversaw daily practice sessions with sprints, jumps, and hurdles along with high jump, pole vault, long jump, and triple jump. While at Washburn, a top Division II program with its own indoor facility, Ashmore also assisted in home meet operations.
Before Washburn, Ashmore was a volunteer assistant at Abilene Christian in 2024-25 where he administered several aspects of the program.
Ashmore was a four-year sprinter at Division II member Harding, where he competed under former LeTourneau head coach Don Hood. He earned All-GAC second team in 2023 after helping the 4x400 squad to fifth at the conference championships.Â
"I want to bring consistent energy, high standards, and a genuine presence," added Ashmore about what he brings to the LeTourneau program. "My goal is to walk alongside our athletes daily --Â encouraging them, challenging them, and helping them develop in track and field and their faith. I believe the strongest programs are built on relationships, and I'm committed to investing in our student-athletes as both competitors and brothers and sisters in Christ."
Ashmore graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Harding in 2023. He received his master's in strength, conditioning, and human performance from Abilene Christian in 2025. He holds USTFCCCA certifications in sprints/hurdles/relays, strength and conditioning, and from ALTIS in coaching the short sprints.
