LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau men's tennis junior
Zach Farris and senior
Liam Wedge were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Tuesday.
CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Farris, a junior from Lucas, Texas, garners his second straight CSC Academic All-District selection. The junior played at the top spot all season in singles and doubles and earned All-ASC second team honors at the No. 1 singles flight. Farris won 12 singles matches -- including a 10-8 record at the top flight -- while collecting 10 doubles wins. He also earned ASC All-Tournament honors and two ASC Player of the Week accolades.
Majoring in business finance, Farris is a two-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection and two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete honoree.
Wedge, a senior from Haslet, Texas, collects his first career CSC Academic All-District nod. The senior competed in 17 matches during the year and was a mainstay at the No. 4 flight in singles play.
A two-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree, Wedge is majoring in criminal justice.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America® program students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a significant contributor to the team (having played in 70 percent of the team's dual matches), and be at least a sophomore academically.
