Women's Golf Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's golfers Isabella Ferreira, Hannah Newell, Macy Rutland, and Lexie Cannon were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Tuesday.

CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in their sport and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees (which includes golf student-athletes) in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Ferreira, a junior from Plano, Texas, earns her second career CSC Academic All-District honor. The All-ASC second team selection led the team in scoring average with a 79.71. She tied for the team lead in top-10 finishes with four. Ferreira was third in the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate with a 153. Ferreira holds the program's best career scoring average at 80.35.

Ferreira graduated with her degree in business management. She will be a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection to go with two WGCA All-American Scholar honors.

Newell, a junior from Houston, Texas, garners her second career CSC Academic All-District award. She earned All-ASC honorable mention this season after an 80.88 scoring average and four top-10 finishes on the year. She won the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate in a playoff.

Majoring in chemistry, Newell will be a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree and is a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar.

Rutland, a senior from Gladewater, Texas, earns CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her LeTourneau career. Rutland earned All-ASC honorable mention as she carded a career-best scoring average of 81.38 on the year with two top-10 finishes. Rutland was the top finisher for LeTourneau at the ASC Championship Tournament as she placed 11th with a 235 (76-79-80), which included a season-best 76 in round one.

Rutland graduated with her degree in engineering physics. She will be a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree. Cannon carded a career-best scoring average of 89.63 on the year and tied for 11th at the FST Pinecrest Invitational. She registered a career-best round of 79 during the season.

Cannon graduated with her degree in kinesiology and will be a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree along with earning WGCA All-American Scholar honors last season.

Cannon, a junior from Longview, Texas, collects her second career CSC Academic All-District honor.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America® program students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, compete in at least 70 percent of a team's tournaments or compete in the conference tournament, and be at least a sophomore academically.
