ABILENE, Texas --
Chloe Tesser won three matches and
Kylie Weeks had two wins as the LeTourneau women's tennis team completed its competition portion of the fall season at the ITA Southwest Regional tournament over the weekend in Abilene.
LeTourneau sent seven players to the tournament and collected eight wins in the annual tournament.
Tesser, Weeks,
Anaiah Smith, and
Maddie Nichol all competed in the main draw on the singles side. Weeks advanced to the round of 16 as she collected two wins. The senior defeated Hardin-Simmons' Addyson Tylaska 6-0, 6-1 in the first round and then took down Southwestern's Daryl Locke by retirement 2-6, 6-1, 7-6. Weeks' run ended with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Trinity's Lucy Nabedrick in the round of 16.
Tesser moved to the main draw consolation bracket after her first round loss and advanced to the quarterfinals. She defeated Hardin-Simmons' Abigail Diamond in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 before a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor's Abigail Hughes in the second round. Tesser then knocked off Schreiner's Mikinley Jamison 2-6, 7-6(3), 10-3 to advance to the semifinals. There, she came up just short in a 7-5, 7-6(3) loss to McMurry's Jenna Vincent.
Smith,
Emmy Phillips, and
Mackenzie Borhofen each notched one win. Smith took down Christa Bennett 6-4, 6-2 in the main draw consolation bracket. Phillips took a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dallas' Evelyn Powell, and Borhofen was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Schreiner's Sara Becerril.
