SUWANEE, Ga. -- A senior from Longview, Texas, and a business management major, Cruz Cox has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning January 19.

The SCAC Character and Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics and serve their campus and community.

Cox is a four-year member of the LeTourneau baseball program. Throughout his playing career, he has made 33 appearances on the mound for the YellowJackets and tallied four saves during the 2025 season to help LeTourneau to its first conference regular season championship.

In the community, Cox has been heavily involved with YoungLife Ministries and volunteered almost 15 hours per week during the Fall 2025 semester. His leadership was a key reason why the LeTourneau baseball team was awarded the Greater Longview United Way's Heart of the Community Service Award in Fall 2024 as the program accumulated over 600 hours of service to the community.

Within his team, Cox serves as part of the Legacy Leadership group and leads team Bible studies. He is also a representative for the program on LeTourneau's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

In the classroom, Cox is a three-time conference all-academic selection.

"Cruz is an outstanding example of what it means to be part of the LeTourneau Baseball Family," said head coach Paul Phillips. "It's been awesome to see the transformation he's gone through since his freshman year. God has worked through so many people to transform him and know is using Cruz to transform others. Cruz has such a great heart for showing others the love of Christ, which is why he has so naturally served so much and is a leader on this team."
