NEW ORLEANS -- LeTourneau men's cross country senior David Dugan, along with both YellowJacket cross country teams were honored by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their work in the classroom.
It is the sixth time the women's program has earned All-Academic Team honors since 2016, while it is the fifth honor for the men in the same time span. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.1 or greater on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
The LeTourneau women had a team GPA of 3.78, while the men compiled a 3.40 during the fall semester. The women's program had the top GPA among LeTourneau teams in the semester and all seven members earned SCAC Academic Honor Roll. The men had 12 selections to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.
Dugan, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., collects All-Academic Athlete honors for the first time in his career and is the third YellowJacket in program history to garner the award. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Dugan was the SCAC Elite 19 Award winner for men's cross country as he placed 10th overall at the conference meet to earn All-SCAC recognition. He also earned SCAC Academic Honor Roll. At the NCAA West Region meet, Dugan finished a career-best 41st in the race.
He is the first YellowJacket to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors since Lorien Nightingale in 2021.
