PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Following the SCAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, LeTourneau men's cross country senior
David Dugan was named the recipient of the Elite 19 award for the sport.
Dugan becomes the first student-athlete in LeTourneau history to earn the honor from the SCAC.
The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded annually to the student-athlete who has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and earns All-SCAC honors for that particular season.
A senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., Dugan currently holds a 4.000 GPA in mechanical engineering and finished 10th at the SCAC Cross Country Championship meet -- earning All-SCAC honors in his inaugural year running in the conference.
His time of 25:46.74 was the fastest time for a YellowJacket in a conference championship race since 2021, and also his second-best career time in the 8k. The All-SCAC honor was the fourth all-conference award of Dugan's career -- having earned All-ASC honors in his previous three seasons prior to the program joining the SCAC this year.
Dugan's performance helped LeTourneau to sixth overall in the program's first appearance in the SCAC Championships.
