LONGVIEW, Texas --
Jordan Oberbillig was named the full-time assistant coach for the LeTourneau men's and women's tennis programs under head coach
Suzanne Merritt.
Oberbillig officially began his role in January.
"I am thrilled to welcome Jordan to our coaching staff," said Merritt. "His knowledge, passion, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our program vision and the LETU mission. I know our players will enjoy his dedication to helping them improve and achieve their goals, both athletically and academically."
"I'm incredibly excited and honored to join LeTourneau University as the assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis programs," said Oberbillig. "LeTourneau's commitment to developing student-athletes who excel not only in their sport but also in their academic and spiritual lives deeply resonates with my personal coaching philosophy. I look forward to contributing to a program that values excellence, integrity, and character both on and off the court."
Oberbillig is a recent graduate of Hardin-Simmons where he played four seasons for the Cowboys. He was a three-time team captain and competed in both singles and doubles lineups. He was an All-ASC second team selection in 2024 and the ASC West Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year in the same season.
He has given private tennis lessons for over four years and served as an instructor at Hardin-Simmons tennis camps. Oberbillig has served as a site director for UIL regional tournaments and ITA Division III regionals, in addition to being a UTR Tournament Director.Â
"I hope to bring energy, consistency, and a player-centered approach that focuses on holistic development—athletically, academically, and personally," added Oberbillig on what he hopes to bring to LeTourneau. "I aim to help our student-athletes grow in skill, confidence, and faith while fostering a team culture built on unity, resilience, and sportsmanship. Ultimately, I want to build upon the strong foundation already in place and help LeTourneau University compete for conference championships while upholding the university's values of integrity and excellence in all we do."Â
Oberbillig earned his bachelor's degree in Fitness, Recreation, and Sports Management in December 2025. He was a four-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection.
