Ndiaye Shines as Men's Track & Field Competes at Pitt State

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Jean-Michel Ndiaye set a program record and a pair of personal bests to lead the LeTourneau men's track and field team at the 11th annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pitt State over the weekend.

Ndiaye set a program record in the 400-meter event with a time of 51.12 to place 40th overall. In the 200-meter, he set a personal record, and top season time, of 22.71. Ndiaye also had a season-best mark in the high jump at 1.88 meters (6'2).

"This meet was full of some of the best competition we'll see all season and the men's team did a great job of being ready for it," said LeTourneau director of track and field Dillon May. "I was really impressed with Jean-Michel's weekend. A record in the 400-meter, a PR in the 200-meter and had his best competition jumps in high jump, while also a strong anchor in the 4x400."

Ndiaye was part of the 4x400 team -- along with Nick Ercole, Chris Morelli, and Grayson Gaddis -- that had a season-best time of 3:30.32.

Morelli had himself a program record in the meet with a new mark in the 600-yard event at 1:17.91 to place 23rd overall.

Xavier Davila broke the two-minute mark in the 800-meter to post his personal record time at 1:58.88, also a season-best for the YellowJackets. Gaddis posted a personal record in the mile at 4:25.20 for the top LeTourneau time this season. Elijah Oudyn had his personal record in the 3,000-meter at 8:54.60, while David Dugan was not far behind at 8:58.20. Xander Nabors had his personal record in the 60-meter dash at 7.25.

The distance medley relay team of Davila, Ercole, Austin Jett, and Gaddis came in at 10:27.12 in the first competition time of the year for the YellowJackets in the event.

In field events, Calvin Mason had a distance of 15.04 meters (49'4.25) in the shot put and 14.91 meters (48'11) in the weight throw. Ben Sweatt had a jump of 13.03 meters (42'9) in the triple jump and Colton Fears cleared 4.15 meters (13'7.25) in the pole vault.
