MAGNOLIA, Ark. -- The LeTourneau men's track and field team competed at its final meet before the SCAC Championships, attending the Dan Veach Invitational, hosted by Southern Arkansas on Friday.
Two program records fell and over a dozen personal records were set as the team prepared for the conference meet next weekend (April 24-26).
Abdiel Rincon took down the program's 100-meter dash record -- one that stood for seven years prior to Friday -- with a 10.76. Rincon finished second amongst 29 runners in the event.
In the heat before Rincon's,
Jean-Michel Ndiaye broke the record first with a personal best time of 10.85. Ndiaye finished right behind Rincon, placing third.
Three other YellowJackets saw personal-best times in the 100-meter:
Nick Ercole (11.41),
Justin Lindberg (11.47), and
Chris Morelli (11.57).
Ndiaye tacked on a second personal record in the 200-meter, running a 22.05, fastest among 22 competitors. Rincon placed fourth with a 22.34 personal-best time, and
Seth Barker's 23.90 is also a personal best for the senior in the event.
Simon Nakamura's 1500-meter time was a new low, running a 4:24.62 in the event.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Lindberg and Morelli placed second and third, respectively. Lindberg dropped a season-best time of 57.63, while Morelli's 58.33 was his second personal record of the day.
LeTourneau's 4x400-meter relay team of Ercole, Lindberg, Morelli, and
Xavier Davila ran a season-best time of 3:26.58.
Moving to the field events,
Ryker Gorrell's 11.54-meter (37' 10.5") leap in the triple jump was a career-best mark.
Calvin Mason had a good a day as ever, placing in the top four in all three of his events. Highlighted by his hammer throw, Mason's 50.59-meter (166') mark is the second time this season he's set the program record.
Mason added a 43.01-meter (141'1") mark in the discus and a 15.84-meter (51' 11.75") mark in the shot put.
Karter Brandenburger saw two personal bests in the throws. His shot put launched 11.32 meters (37'1.75") and Brandenburger tossed the javelin 44.18 meters (144' 11").
Aaron Willeford dominated the javelin throw, winning the event by a substantial margin with a mark of 58.64 meters (192' 5").
Mason Thompson (41.41(135'2")) and
Erik Lindgren (29.29(96'1")) added the final two personal bests in the hammer throw.
