ABILENE, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's track and field team sit in fourth place with 58 points following day two of the SCAC Championships, hosted by McMurry.
After a six-event day, accompanied by a number of event prelims, LeTourneau has produced four All-SCAC winners and several personal bests.
Colorado College took the lead on day two with 72 team points, and LeTourneau trails third-place McMurry by just one point.
David Dugan was the first to receive the all-conference accolade for the YellowJackets, finishing second in the 10,000-meter run. Dugan posted a 33:12.20 and gave LeTourneau eight team points with his finish.
Elijah Oudyn also supplied LeTourneau four points in the event, finishing fifth with a 33:22.38.
The top point collector for the YellowJackets was
Calvin Mason, accounting for 18 of LeTourneau's 58 team points. Mason posted two top-two finishes and garnered his fourth and fifth career All-SCAC honors.
Mason won the hammer throw with a mark of 48.62 meters (159' 6"), before finishing second in the shot put with his 16-meter (52' 6") mark.
LeTourneau had more success in the throws as well.
Mason Thompson's fifth-place finish in the hammer (40.08 meters, 131' 6") scored LeTourneau four points.
Karter Brandenburger came just shy of points in the shot put, finishing 10th with a personal-best mark of 11.95 meters (39' 2.5"), and
Erik Lindgren had his second personal record of the meet, this time in the hammer (29.49, 96' 9").
The final All-SCAC honor came from
Ben Sweatt in the triple jump. In his final meet with LeTourneau, Sweatt finished second in the event with a lead of 13.50 meters (45' 3.5"), collecting eight points and his first all-conference nod.
Both
Bryson Culver and
Xander Nabors posted a 1.82-meter (5' 11.5") mark in the high jump. With Culver covering the bar first, he collected eighth place and a point for LeTourneau. The mark is a personal best for Nabors.
Alexander Hoksbergen and
Grayson Gaddis supplied points in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Hoksbergen finished fourth for five points with a time of 10:10.73, and Gaddis, eighth (one point), with a 10:19.30.
There were many preliminary races on Saturday, before Sunday's finals, in which LeTourneau found 10 personal-best times. Top eight finishers in the prelims advanced to Sunday's finals.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Nabors finished seventh, advancing with a personal-best 15.41 time.
Two personal records fell in the 100-meter dash:
Jean-Michel Ndiaye (10.79),
Ryker Gorrell (11.25), and
Seth Barker had a season-best time of 11.53.
Xavier Davila moves to the 800-meter finals, finishing sixth with a time of 1:56.65.
Austin Jett -- finishing 10th -- also had a career-best time of 1:57.79.
In the 200-meter dash, Nabors (22.32), Gorrell (22.71), and
Abdiel Rincon (22.32) all ran new low times.
The final runners moving to Sunday's finals came in the 400-meter hurdles, as
Chris Morelli finished fifth with a personal best 57.59, while
Justin Lindberg snuck in at eighth with his 58.29.
Nick Ercole also ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a 59.68.
UP NEXT
With 12 events ahead on Sunday's finale, LeTourneau is seeking its first top-three conference finish since 2023.
