Carl Kight Bodes Well for Men's Track & Field

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- LeTourneau men's track and field had a season-best day at the Carl Kight Invitational this week, hosted by Stephen F. Austin.

Three program records fell, and 14 personal bests were set for LeTourneau in the April-opening meet. The meet featured a plethora of Division I and II teams.

The Jackets had a day in the field events, highlighted by Aaron Willeford's javelin throw win.

Willeford smashed his own program record, hitting a mark of 60.95 meters (199' 11"), which currently sits 13th in the nation.

Following was Ben Sweatt, who broke the program record in the triple jump with his fifth-place finish mark of 13.93 meters (45' 8.5"). This mark moves Sweatt into a top-30 rank nationally.

Calvin Mason rounded out the program records with his hammer throw mark of 50.28 meters (164' 11"). Mason also finished seventh in both the shot put (14.86 meters -- 48' 9") and discus (46.29 -- 151' 8").

Karter Brandenburger had a personal-best mark in the discus with his mark of 33.80 meters (110' 10").

The success followed on the track for LeTourneau as well.

In the 10,000-meter run, both Elijah Oudyn (fourth) and David Dugan (fifth) worked top-five finishes, with Oudyn posting a personal-best time of 32:47.45.

Grayson Gaddis slashed nearly a quarter-minute of his personal-best mark in the 1500-meter, posting a 4:02.78.

Moving to the 800-meter, Xavier Davila earned a 14th-place finish among 62 competitors with his personal record of 1:56.67. Gaddis followed with his second personal-best of the day, running a 1:57.16 and finishing 19th.

Jack McCarty (2:03.96), Gavin Smith (2:07.82), and Jakob Guadian (2:15.08) also set a new low time in the event.

The Jackets saw four other personal records in the meet, including Ryker Gorrell's 100-meter dash (11.40), Xander Nabors' 110-meter hurdles (16.21), and Justin Lindberg's (59.22) and Chris Morelli's (59.26) 400-meter hurdles.
