LETU Loses Late to Louisiana College 1-0

Box Score

Longview, Texas-The LeTourneau men's soccer team conceded a late goal, with 4:36 left in the game, to fall 1-0 to Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action Friday night.  The game was played under the lights at the Joyce Family Athletic Village on the LETU campus.

Late in the second half, LC's Caio Sousa hit a cross shot from teammate Felipe Albuquerque that deflected off LETU keeper Anthony Martinez, to find the back of the goal.  The game had been a hard-fought, evenly played contest until the 85:24 goal was scored by LC.  LeTourneau continued to push the ball down field, but failed to score as time eventually ran out.

Anthony Martinez spent all 90 minutes in goal for the Jackets' and recorded eight saves.  Randy Richard of LC saw equal time in goal and had six saves on the night.

LETU and LC took nine shots each in the first half, but the game remained scoreless at half-time.  In the second half, the LC men outshot LeTourneau 7-3.

"I was pleased with the effort and felt our men played with a lot of heart", commented LeTourneau's Head Coach Matthew Haesecke, "but we have to learn to keep working and finish strong as a team."

LETU plays host to Mississippi College on Saturday in another ASC match-up. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
