Men's Soccer Defeated by LSU-Shreveport, 2-0

LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau University's men's soccer team outshot LSU-Shreveport 20-18 (7-5 in shots on goal), but the YellowJackets dropped a 2-0 decision to the Pilots in the season opener Friday night at LETU Soccer Field. Hunter Hembrough finished the game with four shots on goal to lead LeTourneau.

After a scoreless first half and 21 minutes without a goal in the second half, LSU-Shreveport broke the tie when Alex Curry came up with a deflected ball and scored unassisted in the 67th minute to give the Pilots a 1-0 lead.

In the 72nd minute, Alan Arroyo scored on an assist from Nick Montz to give LSU-Shreveport a 2-0 advantage, which proved to be the final margin.

Mario Lopez had two shots on goal for LeTourneau, while Sam Lopez-Hidalgo had one. Anthony Martinez played 45 minutes in goal for the YellowJackets, shutting LSU-Shreveport out in the first half.

LeTourneau will be back at LETU Soccer Field Saturday at 6 p.m., where the YellowJackets will face off with Dallas Baptist.
