LeTourneau Falls to UMHB 4-0

Box Score

LONGVIEW, Texas- Coming off a 1-0 victory on Friday night over Concordia, the LeTourneau YellowJackets were looking to ride that momentum into tonight's game with the Cru of UMHB.  The men's game followed the women's game in much worse playing conditions, as wind added to the rain and made moving the ball a near impossibility.

LeTourneau controlled possession for most of the first half, but a hat trick by Derek Geels gave the 'Jackets a 4-0 loss.

Geels opened the scoring for UMHB in the 5th minute when he got a pass from Scott Poole about 3 feet away from goalie Anthony Martinez (Jasper, Texas), deflecting off  the glove of Martinez and into the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead.

The second half was completely dominated by the Cru.  Geels added two more goals in the half, including a Penalty Kick goal in the 66th minute, and a free kick goal off a foul just outside the 18, to make the score 3-0 three minutes later.

In the 85th minute, Jordan Freeman scored from the right side of the box on a pass from John Williams to give UMHB their final goal of the game.

LeTourneau mustered only 5 shots the entire game, while UMHB doubled that total with 10, all of which were on goal.

The YellowJackets are back in action on October 4, with a trip to UT-Dallas.
