Lightning Ends LeTourneau Men's Soccer Game in 2-1 Loss to UMHB

Box Score As lightning filtered through the sky, the officials elected to end the contest in the 81st minute on Saturday evening as host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor defeated the LeTourneau University men's soccer team, 2-1.

The host Crusaders (4-9-2, 2-5-2 ASC) got on the board in the 16th minute with a goal by McKenna Cook for an early 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, they added to their lead on a header by Kabutey Ebeheakey in the 19th minute.

The visiting YellowJackets (5-12-1, 3-6 ASC) failed to concede and cut the deficit to 2-1 when Patrick Tchekane scored in the 44th minute. Trailing by one goal into the second half, LeTourneau sought out to equalize but a Mario Lopez shot in the 52nd minute was scooped up by UMHB goalkeeper Esteban Briseno.

The YellowJackets mounted another threat in the 80th minute when sophomore Martin Pflaum had a shot sail wide. Shortly after the shot by Pflaum, lightning filled the sky and eventually forced the match to cancel after a significant delay.

LeTourneau will now close out the regular season on Friday, Nov. 1 when they travel to University of Texas-Tyler at 3 p.m.
