Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LONGVIEW - The LeTourneau YellowJackets baseball team reached a milestone on Tuesday evening, reaching the 20 win plateau for the first time since the 1999 season in a 9-2 (7) and 5-4 (7) win over the University of Dallas. It was also only their third 20 win season since 1999.

In the first game, the Jackets (20-15, 8-10 ASC) got things rolling in the first inning as a lead off single from senior Rhett Bohannon resulted in him scoring thanks to a RBI groundout from junior Garrett Methvin.

After junior Jordan Price put down the Crusaders (16-21, 10-8 SCAC) in order the first two innings, senior Jay Lutz led the bottom of the second with a single followed by a single by junior Chuck Daugherty and a RBI single from junior Jordan Argabright.

After a walk to Bohannon, junior Bryce Griffin picked up a RBI infield single followed by a two RBI single down the left field line by sophomore Ryan Bertram. Methvin added two more runs, one of them being a RBI, on an error by the Crusaders and the Jackets were on top 7-0.

Price continued to dominate on the mound, using pin point location and dominating the Dallas lineup despite them adding a pair of runs in the fourth.

LeTourneau got on of those runs back in the foruth off a RBI double from junior Chirs Bertram and another in the sixth thanks to a RBI single from sophomore Ryan Todd.

Price improved to 2-0 on the season, pitching a complete game and allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five batters.

Bertram was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Griffin was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Bohannon added a hit and a run scored while Methvin drove in two runs. Daugherty was also 2-for-3 while Todd was 1-for-1 with a RBI.

In the second game, the Jackets got a leadoff single from Bohannon followed by a sac bunt from Griffin. R. Bertram drove in the first run of the game with a single up the middle followed by a two run blast over the left field wall by Methvin for a 3-0 lead.

Junior Michael Brents got the start and sailed through the Crusader lineup the first time around. LeTourneau extended its lead to 4-0 in the fourth after senior Jay Lutz was able to score on a wild pitch.

The Crusaders chased Brents with a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Jackets got one back in the fifth thanks to a RBI single from Methvin to make it 5-2.

Dallas chipped back into it, but freshman Jack Van Saders and sophomore Ben Boles kept the Crusaders at bay and freshman Josh Gimre finished things off in the seventh for his first career save.

Brents improved to 1-0 in the win, pitching four complete innings including four hits allowed, two earned runs, and two strikeouts. Van Saders added 0.2 innings of relief work while Boles added 1.1. Gimre pitched the remaining 0.2 with the tying run on to complete the save.

Methvin led the way, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored while R. Bertram added a 2-for-3 day and a RBI. Bohannon, Griffin, and Lutz all added hits as well.

The Jackets will close the regular season on the road this Friday and await to see if they will be in the postseason or not. They will take on the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru in a three game, non-conference, series. First pitch Friday is set for 6 p.m.
