Box Score The LeTourneau University women's soccer team moved closer to full strength with an additional player, bringing the Yellow Jacket squad to nine members in a 4-2 loss to Hendrix College on Saturday evening at the Joyce Family Village.
The Yellow Jackets (0-5), who have been playing with eight members through its first four contests, made significant strides in the contest, noted head coach Jamie Lindvall. "Our girls were inspiring in their performance," said the first-year coach. "We had some great service from sophomore
Kaitlynn Conway on our corners and did a great job of being incredibly threatening in the offensive third."
Hendrix (3-2), who was coming off a 3-0 win over Austin College on Friday, was limited to eight shots as the Yellow Jackets outshot the visitors by a 9-8 margin.
The Warriors ended the scoreless contest in the 31
st minute when Vanessa Franco scored; however, the Yellow Jackets quickly answered when freshman
Ashley Gleghorn converted on a corner kick to tie the contest at 1 in the 37
th minute. Hendrix added a second goal in the half when Cunningham scored in the 42
nd minute to take a 2-1 lead at the halftime break.
Again, for the second time on the evening, LeTourneau equalized in the 70
th minute when freshman
Stephanie Vana connected with freshman
Raylene Gould on a corner kick to tie the contest at 2. The Warriors got the game-winning goal and an insurance goal in the 80
th and 90
th minute, respectively for the win.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 12 when they travel to the University of Dallas for a 5 p.m. tilt in Irving.
