Taylor Empkey, a senior on the LeTourneau University baseball team was the recipient of the R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award. Empkey was recently selected by the LeTourneau University School of Theology and Vocation as its Outstanding Student.
He has been a leader to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at LeTourneau and most recently was inducted into the Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges. Empkey was named Academic All-American Southwest Conference in 2015. Currently, in 2016, he has led LeTourneau to its third-straight appearance for the first time in program history to the American Southwest Conference Baseball Tournament.
The R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award is presented to the junior or senior student-athlete who portrays the best Christian attitude and leadership in the following areas: Classroom (Attendance and Grades), Campus (Active in clubs, groups and Bible study), Community (Active in a local church) and Athletics (A student-athlete the team respects and looks up to for leadership).Â
