'Jackets set to meet UT Dallas in ASC quarters

LONGVIEW, Texas – Sixth seeded LETU heads to Richardson, Texas, Tuesday for a first-round clash at 5 p.m. against the No. 3 seed UT Dallas in the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship.

The Yellowjackets ended the regular season with a 9-8-0 mark, including 5-5 in league play, while the Comets closed at 6-2-2 against conference opponents and 10-4-3 overall.

LETU makes its seventh trip to the conference tournament in program history. Head coach Collin Cone, who is in his fourth season at the helm, guided his third team to postseason,

"This has been a really special season for our program," Cone said. "Finishing above .500 and qualifying for our third league tournament in four years is a testament of the hard work and preparation the guys put in."

The Comets continued a streak of 12-conseuctive tournaments made and 21st overall, two behind Hardin-Simmons for the all-time tally.

"We have a young team, whose ready and really excited for tomorrow," Cone said. "We will be tested by a really well-coached and organized UT Dallas team in the ASC quarters."

Offensive Weapons
- Twenty different Yellowjacket players registered at least one goal or assist.
- Syed Zain and Russell Gray netted three goals each to lead the squad that saw 12 different goal scorers.
- Of the 13 'Jackets with an assist, Santi De La Torre dished out the most, with five helpers.
 
Goalkeeper Versatility
- LETU utilized four different goalkeepers, amassing four shutouts, with Jack Carpenter boasting a pair of clean sheets.
- Carpenter owns the best save percentage and the fourth-fewest goals surrendered per contest among all ASC qualifying keepers.
 
History with UT Dallas
- The last time the two sides met in the postseason was in the 2019 ASC quarters, a 2-0 result for UT Dallas in Richardson, Texas.
- This is the 29th meeting in the series, with UT Dallas holding a 25-3 advantage, including 3-0 in the ASC Championships.
- The Comets extended their current winning streak in the series to 12 earlier this season, courtesy of two goals in the final 35 minutes of a 2-0 decision.
