TUNICA, Miss. – LeTourneau University men's golf team finished 9th at the Rhodes College Fall Classic after shooting 303 in round one and 309 in round two for a 918 three-round total.
LETU finished 10 strokes behind Hardin-Simmons University in the event played on the par-72, 6,991-yard Tunica National Golf Resort. Huntingdon College won the event, shooting 866. Sewanee was second at 874, and Piedmont University third at 881.
The YellowJackets' Bryson Thurston carded a 70 in the second round to tie for 14th at 220. Dalton Northcutt shot 74 in the final round for 45th at 231. Thurston and Northcutt finished with a total of nine birdies each. Corbin Barton tied for 46th at 232, opening with 74 in the first round. Zach Bollinger tied for 68th, following a final round 76. Cole Chastain shot 79 in the final round, tying for 72nd at 242. Chastain also had an eagle for the Jackets.
LeTourneau was seventh in par-3 scoring at 3.32. Sewanee led that category at 3.00, followed by Huntingdon with 3.12. LETU made 34 birdies as a team in the three rounds. Huntingdon led the field with 42.
The YellowJackets will travel to the Tyler Junior College Fall Invitational Sept. 27-28 at Pine Springs Golf Club in Tyler, Texas.
