Summers Earns SCAC Golfer of the Week Honors

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Coming off his first collegiate tournament title, LeTourneau men's golf senior Noah Summers was named the SCAC Golfer of the Week, announced the conference on Wednesday.

It is the second career conference weekly honor for Summers and the second time this season a LeTourneau golfer has garnered the award. Summers shared this week's honors with Brandon Munson of Texas Lutheran.

A senior from Longview, Texas, Summers won the Jacksonville College Classic with a 7-under, 206 to help the LeTourneau B team to a tie for first. Summers opened the tournament with a 5-under, 66 on Monday -- the second 66 of the season for Summers -- and followed that with a 3-under, 68 in round two. On Tuesday, the senior posted a 72 and held off UT Tyler's Corbin Murray and Tyler JC's Noah Sandlin for the top spot. Summers tallied six birdies in round one, six more in round two, and two in the final round to lead the field with 14 for the tournament.

The LeTourneau B team tied Tyler JC for the top spot with a 54-hole score of 856 (286-284-286). The LeTourneau C team was tied for sixth overall.

On the year, Summers is second on the team with a 71.89 scoring average across nine rounds. He has two top-five finishes and four rounds at par or better.

LeTourneau returns to action at the Carla Spenkoch Invitational on Oct. 6-7 in San Antonio.
