LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau assistant men's basketball coach
Joel Wallace was recognized as the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Small College Assistant Coach of the Year, announced the organization recently.
Wallace finished his third year at LeTourneau in 2023-24.
"I am happy that all the hard work Joel does for our program is being recognized by his peers in the TABC," said head coach
James Wallace. "His dedication to helping our guys succeed on and off the court is something I am grateful for. He takes on the many responsibilities and roles that I give him and has a passion for the game that is truly unmatched."
Wallace was instrumental in assisting with an offense that averaged 83.0 points per game while shooting an ASC-best 48.5 percent from the field. LeTourneau had five players averaging double figures in scoring, led by
Deonte Jackson at 22.2 points per game, and ranked third in the ASC in assists per game at 15.11.
Three of LeTourneau's double-digit scorers this year earned All ASC honors (Jackson,
Caedmon Liebengood,
Christian Adams).
LeTourneau has averaged at least 80 points per game in all three seasons Joel Wallace has been on the coaching staff.
"Joel spends countless hours breaking down film, improving our offensive efficiency, scouting opponents, and has taken a bigger role as recruiting coordinator," added head coach Wallace. "He cares deeply for our team, and it shows in his commitment to improving himself and the young men we are blessed to lead."
LeTourneau finished the year with a 17-10 overall record and advanced to the ASC Tournament semifinals.
