Lockhart, Smith selected as All-Conference

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Nora Lockhart and Emma Smith were selected as All-Conference honorees, the league announced on Wednesday.

Lockhart was a second-team All-SCAC selection -- the third All-Conference selection of her career -- while Smith was named an All-SCAC honorable mention, garnering her second All-Conference choice.

All-SCAC teams were voted on exclusively by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Lockhart, a junior from Highland Village, Texas, was a force at the middle of the net the entirety of the season. Her 0.85 blocks per set in conference play ranked fourth in the SCAC, while her .356 conference hitting percentage ranked second amongst players with at least 180 attacks. Additionally, Lockhart had 81 kills and a 1.76 kills per set in SCAC play.

On the year, Lockhart has 78 total blocks and 0.83 blocks per set (both rank fifth in the SCAC), to accompany 161 kills and a .328 hitting percentage (fourth in the SCAC).

The junior has had a number of exceptional matches this season. Her season high of eight blocks came in a four-set win at Covenant (Sep. 6), an NCAA Tournament team the previous three seasons.

More recently, Lockhart had back-to-back 10 kills performances in wins over Howard Payne (Oct. 31) and Austin College (Nov. 1). Lockhart hit .563 and stuffed a pair of attacks in the YellowJackets' critical victory over Austin College, which eventually propelled the team into the conference tournament.

Smith received multiple votes, which qualified her to be named an All-SCAC honorable mention.

The senior from San Antonio, Texas, stepped up massively for the YellowJackets in her final year. Smith had 133 kills on a 2.42 kills per set average in SCAC-play, which both rank top 14 in the conference; while her conference hitting percentage of .278 was good enough for a top-10 finish.

On the year, Smith punched 230 kills -- 13th in the SCAC -- with a .262 hitting percentage -- 12th in the league -- all while shattering her career high's in nearly every statistical category.

The senior had one of the most impressive performances in the nation in the team's four-set win over Concordia Texas. Smith tallied a .486 hitting percentage with a career-high 18 kills and zero attack errors.

Smith collected seven double-digit kill performances this year, four of which came in conference play.

Together, this duo aided the YellowJackets to an NCAA-era program record 19 wins this year.

LeTourneau (19-11, 9-7 SCAC) earned the No. 6 seed in the SCAC Tournament under fourth-year head coach Alison Williams. The YellowJackets face Schreiner on Friday afternoon (1 p.m.).
