Men's Soccer Puts Six on All-SCAC Teams

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Henry Shore earned first team honors and led six LeTourneau men's soccer players on All-SCAC teams, as the conference announced its season award winners on Thursday during the conference tournament in Round Rock.

Shore was a first team All-SCAC selection while Sammy Shmorgun, Nate Bransford, Caleb Nelson, and Diego Enriquez collected All-SCAC honorable mention. Shore, Shmorgun, and Leandro Ferreira earned spots on the SCAC All-Freshman team.

All-SCAC teams were voted on exclusively by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

A freshman from Longview, Texas, Shore put together a standout first year to earn All-SCAC first team and All-Freshman team honors. He leads the YellowJackets -- and ranks fourth in the SCAC -- with eight goals while ranking third in the conference with 18 total points. Shore came alive in SCAC play as he posted seven goals (third-most in the league) and 16 points. He was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week on OCt. 13 after posting four goals -- including a hat trick -- the week prior. Shore had a stretch of five straight SCAC matches recording at least one point.

Shore's eight goals are the most by a first-year YellowJacket since 2005.

Shmorgun, a freshman from Fresno, Calif., collected honorable mention All-SCAC and All-Freshman honors. Shmorgun played and started in all 17 matches and led the team with 1475 minutes played. He led a LeTourneau defense to a 1.29 goals against average (fifth in the SCAC) and three shutouts, but a 1.09 goals against average in SCAC matches. Shmorgun also collected two goals and one assist on the year.

Bransford, a senior from Kijabe, Kenya, earns his first career all-conference nod with All-SCAC honorable mention. Despite missing time to an injury at the start of the season, Bransford still played in 10 matches and made nine starts. A key player all around, notched a the eventual game-winning goal vs. Dallas. He was a part of two shutouts on the year and a 1.09 goals against average in conference play.

A junior from Brownwood, Texas, Nelson collects his second career all-conference selection with an All-SCAC honorable mention choice. He leads the YellowJackets -- and ranks third in the SCAC -- with six assists and totaled three goals. He was exceptional in SCAC matches alone with three goals and four assists. He had two assists in a key win at Austin College at the end of the year and scored goals against McMurry, Dallas, and Hendrix.

Enriquez, a senior from Longview, Texas, also notches his second career all-conference honor with All-SCAC honorable mention. Enriquez was a constant in the midfield this season, tallying 1030 minutes played and notching one assist. He collected an assist on Shore's eventual game-winning goal in a key victory at Ozarks late in the season. Enriquez's play helped LeTourneau to a 1.29 goals against average (fifth in the SCAC) and three shutouts.

Ferreira, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, was the third YellowJacket to earn a spot on the All-Freshman team. He finished the year with two goals and five assists. He ranks tied for fifth in the SCAC with five assists, all of which came in conference play (third-most in SCAC). His goal in conference play came in a 1-1 draw against Concordia Texas. Ferreira notched three assists in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas.

LeTourneau (6-6-5, 5-4-2 SCAC) earned the No. 6 seed in the SCAC Tournament under first-year head coach TJ Milby. The YellowJackets face Concordia Texas on Thursday night (8 p.m.).
