LeTourneau Mourns the Passing of Henry Shore

It is with deep sadness that we share that first-year LeTourneau student Henry Shore passed away over the weekend. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Henry was a Construction Management major and a standout member of the men's soccer team. Henry grew up in Longview, and his family is known and loved in the community. The Division of Student Affairs and Office of Spiritual Life will coordinate a service on campus for our community to pray and commemorate Henry's life together.

Henry was one of the top freshmen in the SCAC in 2025. The forward earned All-SCAC first team honors and All-Freshman accolades. He led the YellowJackets -- and ranked third in the SCAC -- with eight goals and was fourth in the conference with 18 total points.

In SCAC play alone, he posted seven goals and 16 points. Henry was named the SCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 13 after recording four goals the week prior. He had a stretch of five straight SCAC matches recording at least one point.

Henry registered the first hat trick for LeTourneau since 2019 when he achieved the feat in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas on Oct. 12. His eight goals during the year were the most by a first-year YellowJacket since 2005.

We know that many of you may be personally impacted by Henry's death. The LeTourneau University Center for Counseling (Counseling@letu.edu), Campus Pastor (903.233.312; Belcher 166), and Dean of Students (903.233.4400) are all available to support you and other members of our community. On-demand counseling is also available at no cost to students through our partnership with TimelyCare and will remain available during Christmas break (https://app.timelycare.com/auth/login

"I am grateful for our LeTourneau community and the ways we can support one another in a time of great pain such as this," said LeTourneau President Dr. Steven D. Mason. "Henry will always be a cherished member of the LeTourneau University family. Please keep Henry's family in your prayers."

"The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." (Lamentations 3:24)
