SUWANEE, Ga. -- LeTourneau men's basketball junior forward
Logan Brinkoeter was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Dec. 21, announced the conference on Monday.
It is the first career weekly award for Brinkoeter and he becomes the second YellowJacket to garner accolades this season (
Teigan Edwards, Nov. 17).
A junior from Georgetown, Texas, Brinkoeter averaged a double-double with 12.0 rebounds and 10.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for LeTourneau. He had 12 rebounds and 10 points in a win over Millsaps before going for 12 rebounds and 11 points in win over Lewis & Clark. Brinkoeter had one steal vs. Millsaps and one block vs. Lewis & Clark. He collected 8.5 defensive rebounds per game in the two wins. The double-doubles were his third and fourth of the season.
On the year, Brinkoeter leads LeTourneau in rebounding (8.1 per game) and ranks tied for fifth in the SCAC. He is also averaging 8.8 points per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 77.8 percent at the free throw line.
LeTourneau (6-3, 1-0 SCAC) returns to action after Christmas on Jan. 2 at Centenary (5:30 p.m.).
