Men's Golf Picked as ASC Favorite; Barton, Moore Named to Watch List

DALLAS -- The defending ASC champion LeTourneau men's golf team was picked to repeat in the pre-spring poll while seniors Corbin Barton and Logan Moore were named to the Players to Watch List, announced the conference on Wednesday.

Head coaches exclusively vote on the pre-spring poll.

LeTourneau, under head coach J. Paul Leslie III, nabbed four of the five first-place votes and totaled 24 total points in the poll to be picked as the favorite. The YellowJackets captured the program's first ASC title in 2024 with a playoff win over UT Dallas. LeTourneau made its second straight appearance at the NCAA Division III Championship in 2024.

The momentum carried into the fall 2024 season for LeTourneau. The YellowJackets won a pair of tournaments and finished in the top-three in two other tournaments. The fall slate was capped by a third-place finish at the prestigious Golfweek Classic as LeTourneau finished ahead of all top-five ranked teams in the nation at the time.

Those accomplishments vaulted the YellowJackets into the top-10 nationally in two polls. LeTourneau enters the spring season ranked No. 8 in both the Scoreboard/Clippd and Bushnell/Golfweek Top 25 rankings.

Barton, a senior from Longview, Texas, was a key reason for the YellowJackets' success in the fall. He had two tournament wins and finished in the top-five in all four tournaments, while leading the team with a 69.17 scoring average. He is currently ranked fourth in the Scoreboard/Clippd individual national ranking, and first in the region, with an adjusted scoring average of 68.7. Barton shot 4-under or better in five rounds during the fall season.

Barton was a four-time ASC Golfer of the Week award winner this fall, breaking a program record for ASC weekly honors in a season.

Moore, a senior from Longview, Texas, earned All-ASC honorable mention last season. In 12 rounds of play during the fall, Moore averaged a 72.42 -- second on the team -- with two top-10 finishes and one top-five placement. Moore was tied for second at the Tempest Intercollegiate with a 1-under, 209 that included a round of 67 (3-under).

As a team, The YellowJackets had seven rounds at or better than par in the fall. LeTourneau registered a round of 5-under in the second round at the Golfweek October Classic and had a round of 4-under twice to go along with rounds of 3-under and 1-under as a team. Collectively, LeTourneau has a team scoring average of 284.92 on the year.

LeTourneau opens the spring season on Feb. 24-25 at the Space City Classic in Houston. That tournament is one of five for the main team, which includes the FST Pinecrest Invitational in Longview on March 10-11.

The ASC Championship is set for May 1-4 at the Nutcracker Golf Club in Granbury.
