Personal Records Abound for Men's Track & Field in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas -- Making a second appearance in three weeks in Houston, the LeTourneau men's track and field team took advantage of the opportunity and set a plethora of personal records at the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Indoor Last Chance Invitational on Saturday.

LeTourneau set multiple personal records marks in middle distance events.

"The men were in great form today," said director of track & field Dillon May. "They showcased a lot of hard work at this meet and how it has already been paying dividends through the first few months of the track season. Throughout the meet, they competed well with some stiff competition and rose to the challenge time and time again. I'm looking forward to the rest of their indoor season and for our first outdoor meet on March 1."

Walker Reeves finished sixth overall with his best career 800-meter time of 1:58.71 while Grayson Gaddis was right behind him at 1:59.83 to finish 10th. Reeves and Gaddis doubled up in the meet and also ran the mile with Reeves finishing in a personal-record time of 4:22.23 and Gaddis in his career-best mark of 4:28.12. Reeves was fifth in the mile and Gaddis finished 12th.

The YellowJackets' top three runners in the 200-meter all saw personal records go down. James Kearsing led the way at 23.92 with Seth Barker (24.29) and Caleb Murillo (24.99) right behind. Barker also set a personal record in the 60-meter prelims at 7.37.

In the 400-meter, Jean-Michel Ndiaye had a top time of 52.26 and Murillo came in at 54.16 for a personal-best. Ndiaye, Murillo, Gaddis, and AJ Allen combined in the 4x400 to lead LeTourneau with their time of 3:36.46.

Elijah Oudyn paced the YellowJackets in the 5,000-meter run with his career-best time of 15:46.21.

In field events, Ndiaye had a top-10 showing in the high jump at 1.85 meters (6'0.75) while Bryson Culver set his personal record with a height of 1.80 meters (5'10.75) to finish seventh. Culver also had a personal record in the triple jump at 12.47 meters (40'11) as he placed ninth overall.

Colton Fears set a personal best in the pole vault at 4.40 meters (14'5.25). Calvin Mason continued his strong indoor season with a pair of top-10 finishes as he placed eighth in the shot put at 14.86 meters (48'9) and was ninth in the weight throw at 15.04 meters (49'4.25).
