Men's Track & Field Collects USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Eight LeTourneau men's track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA Indoor All-West Region team, announced the organization this week.

Calvin Mason, Ben Sweatt, Colton Fears, David Dugan, Nick Ercole, Xavier Davila, Austin Jett, and Grayson Gaddis all collected honors for their performances this indoor season.

Mason collected All-Region honors in both the shot put and the weight throw, Sweatt was recognized for his performance in the triple jump, Fears for his mark in the pole vault, Dugan in the 5,000-meter, and Ercole, Davila, Jett, and Gaddis were honored as members of the distance medley relay team.

The top-eight individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-eight ranked relay team.

Mason, a junior from New London, Texas, collected his second career honors in both the shot put and weight throw. The junior posted a 15.51-meter (50' 10.75") mark in the shot put to rank second in the region and posted the fourth-best mark of 16.80 meters (55' 1.5") in the weight throw. Both marks came at the LSU Twilight meet on Feb. 20. Mason's weight throw mark was a program record.

Sweatt, a senior out of Hurst, Texas, was fifth in the region in the triple jump, setting a mark of 13.60 meters (44' 7.5"). This personal-best mark for Sweatt came on Jan. 16 at the McNeese Indoor I meet. Sweatt collects his first All-Region honors.

Fears was eighth in the region in the pole vault at 4.30 meters (14' 1.25"), setting this mark at the Fastrak Collegiate Indoor Classic on Feb. 7. The senior from White Oak, Texas, garners his first career All-Region honors.

Dugan, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., collects his first career All-Region honors. Dugan was eighth in the region in the 5,000-meter with a program-record time of 15:26.58, coming at the Fastrak Collegiate Indoor Classic on Feb. 7.

LeTourneau earns its second consecutive All-Region honors in the distance medley relay. Ercole, Davila, Jett, and Gaddis produced a time of 10:27.12 at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic on Feb. 13. Gaddis was a member of last year's All-Region relay team, while Davila, Jett, and Ercole earn their first All-Region accolade.

LeTourneau continues the outdoor season this Saturday (March 14) at the Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles, La.
